I think art has nothing to do with the instrument you use. But merely with how you use them and how much creativity and thought you put into them. Same with music and film. An instrument is nothing wihout someone controlling it and ‘bringing it to life’.
Go to adorama.com and look in the used section to get a good nikon film camera. Unfortunately DX lenses will vignette and crop on yor 35 mm film camera but any FX lenses you get for the film camera will work on your D40
The FA already mentioned is a great camera that was well ahead of its time when if was first produced.
